The text here discusses what is called the “new tax” (perhaps the alcabala?) and how the townspeople will venerate St. Michael. This book is also to be observed by the future generations, and they will serve the town. The lands from which they will derive their tribute payments are going to be shown as measured in “mecates” (cords of an undetermined length, perhaps 50 varas, or “yards” of the period). Also to be shown are the lands “pertaining” to the the venerable father (the saint?). The townspeople will perform service for him. The (land) is to be worked and cultivated in order to observe and celebrate.... (Text continues on the next page.)
