f. 11v., indigenous town founders

This scene shows two indigenous men standing. The text identifies the two men in this scene as nobles, don Bartolomé and don Miguel Axayacatzin. They are said to have founded the town. They both wear cotton clothing indicative of the Spanish colonial period, but they each carry an arrow in one hand and they have what may be a single feather at the tops of their heads. This is something of a contradiction, unless the intention is to state that they have Chichimec heritage even though they are lords of an established town. [SW]
