Tilantongo, Dynasty III, Generation 3

Tilantongo, Dynasty III, Generation 3

The Tilantongo column jumps two generations and restarts in the third generation of the third dynasty. This is due to the fact that the first two generations ruled the combined Tilantongo-Teozacualco polity and, being this a Teozacualco document, are represented in the Teozacualco column. After the death of lord 4 Water in 1341 and the end of the second dynasty of Tilantongo, legitimate rule was derived back from Teozacualco. A son of lord 2 Dog and lady 6 Reed, the founders of the third dynasty of Teozacualco in 1321, arrived at Tilantongo (lady 6 Reed was the sister of lord 4 Water, guaranteeing close genealogical continuity). This founder of the third dynasty of Tilantongo was called 9 House “Jaguar.” His son was called 2 Water “Fire Serpent.” Among the women he married was lady 2 Vulture from “Monkey Town.” This couple had a daughter called 12 Flower “Butterfly Mountain.” With her the Mapa de Teozacualco picks up the Tilantongo lineage. A son from another marriage of lord 2 Water continued the Teozacualco line.
