toponym glyph, Tollan

This toponym has no accompanying gloss, but it is easily identifiable as the place name Tollan (Nahuatl) or Ñu Yoo (Mixtec), “Place of Reed.” Tollan is known to have had a deep history in Mesoamerica, and many dynasties emphasized their (real or imagined) links to this semi-mythological place. In this particular case, it is likely, however, that the toponym refers to Cholula in Puebla. Cholula was also called ”Tollan Cholula.” [Jesper Nielsen]
