Tepetlapan

This glyph, with the numerical component of 5 dots, is glossed “Tepetlapan, The Place of the Stone Call’d Tepetate.” In Nahuatl, tepetlatl is a brittle volcanic rock. The final part, -pan, is a locative that means in or on. The glyphic element at the bottom appears to refer to stone, and above that we see what looks like a woven mat (petlatl in Nahuatl), which may be an glottographic aid. [SW]
