church symbolizing the town of Toluca

This is a detail of the church, emblematic of the city, of Toluca. The church has shading on the north side of the building. The main door is tall, with what appears to be stone framing and a domed door. Above the door is an arched window with a slight framing. On each side of this window are two additional windows that are dark. On the roof we see a principal, central bell tower with a bell and a rope for ringing it. The opening where the bell is hung is arched. The roof of the bell tower comes to a peak, and a cross sits on top. There is another, smaller bell tower with one bell, a rounded roof, and a cross on top. The atrium is enclosed with what appears to be a wall of adobe bricks or stone. In the atrium and near the gloss for “toluca,” we see a detail that appears to be like a rubric or the flourish of a pen. [SW]
