This is a detail of a pond or lake with seven waterfowl, ducks or other birds, painted black, swimming in it. On the sides of several of the birds the black ink is not filled in, but open, so that we can see the blue water from behind. The pond is painted blue. It is surrounded by green (grass, presumably).
